Well a parody movie is generally just like another EXCEPT there are differences to make it funny. Look at Hot Shots and Top Gun.
It is ludicrous calling it a remake. Was Spaceballs a remake of Star Wars? Was Hot Shots a remake of Top Gun? Was Scary Movie a remake of Scream? No, but they all had similar elements, which made it a parody.
Maybe so, but similar clips could be assembled to claim that it was a remake of The High and the Mighty or that it was a remake of Airport. Multiple scenes from a number of movies are parodied here, just like with everything else these filmakers have done.
I think many of the similarities emphasize how Abrahams and Zucker used the old film to make the lines seem silly in modern days (or, at least, the 70s).
Now can you give us the similarities with Airport 1975 and Airplane!?
Well I am not sure what you were trying to get when you are citing wikipedia, you should read it maybe. wikipedia states it is a VIRTUAL remake, not a remake. So let's call Scary Movie a remake of Scream but funny.

Yes, it is a remake. The producers bought the rights to Zero Hour, and they say so in the Airplane commentary.

yea the ...entire point of the film is a ...parody ....its like accusing "scary movie" of "omg stealing" from "..."

Great job on the editing!

When I followed the link here, I was thinking Zero Hour referred to the "all your base" fame, not a b/w movie.. But apparently that's Zero WING =P

What is the difference between "an almost scene by scene remake" and a "virtual remake"?
I've been searching everywhere -- where can I get a copy of Zero Hour?
dang... too bad none of the videos are available now :/
