10 More Stunning Bridges From Around The World
Bridges have long been a thing of fascination in the human mind because of what they connote: connection. Even though much of our communication is carried out via email or telephone, we are still nonetheless a sociable bunch. We go places, see things, visit people and experience life, all of which requires movement and interaction. Bridges are therefore a facilitator of connection in the broad mesh of human social life.

20 Reason Not to Move to Dubai
I've posted this before but it has been doing the rounds again today - The top 20 reasons not to move to Dubai.
"It is really hot outside. Not Florida in July hot; Hot as if you were locked in a car in Florida in July with sufficient humidity to make it feel as though you are drowning. Hot as in 120 degrees with nearly 100% humidity. Do not look to the wind for relief. This is the equivalent of pointing a hairdryer on full blast directly at your face. Pour fine moon dust-like sand over your head as you do this and you get the picture."

Russian Ice Tunnel
This 3150 meter long tunnel in Russia is the longest in-city tunnel of Europe . There is a river running over it and water leaks at some points. When the temperature drops to minus 38 degrees like it did this winter, the road freezes. The result is the attached video taken during a single day with the tunnel camera.

Calculate Your C02 Footprint
How much C02 do you emit each year?
I don't know what all the fuss is about C02, I don't even use it. I use petrol, gas and electricity.

Bus Stop to Nowhere
A German care home have taken an unusual step to prevent Alzheimer's patients from wandering off - building a fake bus stop.
“It sounds funny,” said Old Lions Chairman Franz-Josef Goebel, “but it helps. Our members are 84 years-old on average. Their short-term memory hardly works at all, but the long-term memory is still active. They know the green and yellow bus sign and remember that waiting there means they will go home.” The result is that errant patients now wait for their trip home at the bus stop, before quickly forgetting why they were there in the first place.
“We will approach them and say that the bus is coming later today and invite them in to the home for a coffee,” said Mr Neureither. “Five minutes later they have completely forgotten they wanted to leave.”
